Changing The Tire Size Will Have Some Impact On The LCD Digital Speedometer

Jan 29,2021

Do you plan to change tires? Whether you want to increase, decrease or increase the size of the tire, you should consider many factors when changing the tire size. All of these have different effects on the accuracy of the speedometer. If you are not familiar with these contents, you can continue reading.

Before we begin to explain the effect of increasing size, reducing size, and increasing size on the lcd digital speedometer, let us first discuss the meaning of the speedometer. A speedometer or also called a speedometer is an instrument that measures and displays the current speed of a vehicle. It has a mechanism to indicate the speed of the vehicle through a circular magnet. On some vehicles, the speedometer has been improved by a device that cooperates with the engine throttle to maintain the required speed. You may notice that whenever you bring the vehicle to its maximum speed, it does not seem to be the actual speed. One reason is accuracy. The speedometer is not 100% accurate. The production of these speedometers is suitable for various vehicles.

When we talk about speed timing, you might think that it can measure the speed from one point to another. However, the speedometer works by measuring the rotation of the wheels, drive shafts, and axles. Then, it calculates the angle of rotation to determine the speed of the vehicle. This is why you must keep in mind when changing the tire size of a vehicle. If the wheels and tires are larger or smaller than the original equipment size, you can change the speedometer reading. To be safe, accurate speedometer readings are important.

This will have some effect on the speedometer when changing the tire size. Tire enlargement or miniaturization is a method of replacing larger or smaller tires. Due to the large circumference, large tires may cause inaccurate speedometer readings. The input speed it displays may be slower than the actual speed because the distance it travels in each cycle is larger than its original tire size. This is another way to downsize. Because the circumference is small, the speed read by the speedometer is faster than the actual driving speed.

Adding the size is like zooming in and out, except that it replaces the original equipment tires with different sizes but the same height. It has a larger diameter and a lower aspect ratio in order to have the same diameter and circumference as the original equipment tire Although the first two will affect the reading of the speedometer, adjusting the size will not affect the accuracy of the speedometer because it retains the height and circumference of the tire.

You can use road mileage markers and exact travel seconds to calculate speed. However, this method is not recommended. Besides the inconvenience, it is also not accurate. If you want a simpler and more accurate method, you can take advantage of this technology and use a tire size and speedometer calculator.

If you cannot afford incorrect speed readings, you can consider using a GPS device to understand the exact speed of the vehicle. The GPS system provides information through computer algorithms to display ground speed. However, it is different from the ground speed of a standard speedometer. Nowadays, modern vehicles usually recalibrate the speedometer correctly by changing the tire diameter using the vehicle computer.
